  • Very cool new sites! Also, thanks for the mention for PinoyLancer.com and Egghub.com!

    More power.

  • one question before i signup with Pinoy.FM, does it have the blessing of the recording industry for playing songs for free?

    very cool site by the way. :)

  • @AJ Why do you like “egg” so much? You have eggnyte.com too right? I’ll try to find out about pinoy.fm… there’s also musiklokal.com

  • Happy to report that Pinoy.FM is licensed by FILSCAP to stream OPM hits.

  • Thanks Marie for featuring us.

    @aj batac:
    We are licensed by FILSCAP to stream OPM music. We hold the same license as any radio station in the Philippines.

    However, even so, any artist or music label can ask us to remove their songs from our site and we will respond promptly. If you will read from the posts on our site, most of our kababayans outside and even in the Philippines are discovering new songs for the first time and are asking where to buy those tracks. So we believe we are achieving our goal of promoting OPM hits and contributing to growth of the industry.

  • @marie - re: egg: just a coincidence. :)

    @pinoy.fm - very cool! thanks for the info. let’s think of mashing up egghub and pinoy.fm. more traffic, more fun!

  • @aj: not a bad idea at all. send me info on anything you can think of : allan@pinoy.fm..

  • @pinoy.fm - sent you an email.

  • @qassia: The industry is moving towards semantics such as the latest to come out of a company and university effort called Powerset. They use a complex set of smart algorithms to extract meaning from text in Wikipedia. They are also expanding to other data silos after they finish with Wikipedia. The “intelligence” Qassia claims is only tagging and it’s just similar to del.icio.us. Develop something that is truly intelligent and it will be more “future proof”.

  • @kevin: im sure they’re already planning that. ;)

  • @kevin: I can’t say for sure whichever technology is more sophisticated but it’s pretty cool how qassia has been gaining momentum since it launched only this 2008. Web apps don’t always have to be rocket science… like Ta-Da List. Are you working on something similar to qassia (or other)? Would be quite interested to hear about it.

  • Hey Pinoy.FM looks cool! I won’t be second guessing where it drew its inspiration from (I’m a last.FM user :)

  • @Dennison Yeah, I’ve recently gotten addicted to last.fm myself LOL still, interesting how the files on pinoy.fm are named .opm

  • @marie, you have to see my addiction.
